When we stumbled upon the Letkeman Family vineyard we were immediately swept away by all of the rocks. As far as the eye could see down the hill are chunks of white limestone. We were smitten. Planted in this hostile ground was just over an acre of Alicante Bouschet, a workhorse red teinturier grape variety, often misunderstood and maligned. We were immediately curious what sort of characteristics such a variety used almost solely to "color up" other lacking varieties would bring if we were to pick it insanely early. We're so pleased with the result. A funky fresh red wine, begging for cellar temp and a plate of everything.
